OREANDA-NEWS. January 03, 2011. SOCAR management headed by Mr. Rovnag Abdullayev, the Company President paid visit to Astara region. SOCAR management visited gas-compressor station #2, where they got acquainted with ongoing restoration works. During the meeting at the compressor station, Mr. Aghasef Aliyev, the head of the SOCAR Capital Investments Department, mentioned that the station was built and put into operation in 2005 to supply the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic with natural gas. Under the agreement signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Islamic Republic of Iran, new compressor station was built in Astara city for transportation of natural gas to neighboring country.

At the first stage, six 10 QKNAM gas engine-compressor sets were installed at newly built station on expansion of the Astara compressor station. The number of those compressor stations will be increased up to ten. At the same time, it is planned to modernize the units presently commissioned at Astara Compressor Station to 70-75 atmospheric pressure. The suction drums, input and output lines, measuring and fuel gas units and their pipelines have been installed, and test works have been carried out at the station. Concluding the meeting, Mr. Abdullayev gave instructions on completion of works at the station within short time which is of great importance for transportation of Azerbaijan’s gas to the south.

Later on, SOCAR President attended the Flag Square built in the region and examined the ongoing construction works. Construction of the object was estimated as satisfactory and relevant commissions were given for completion of the works. To mention, construction of flag squares in some regions is financed by SOCAR. The Flag Squares in Astara, Gusar, Lerik, Fuzuli will have great importance in encouraging patriotism feelings of the population.
