OREANDA-NEWS. January 11, 2011. Wholesale gas prices for Russian industrial consumers were increased by an average 15% on 1 January 2011, and even more than that in as much as 26 Russian regions. The increment numbers were approved by the governance board of the Federal Tariff Service (FTS) in December 2010.

In line with the FTS’s decree, the most significant price increase was due in Nizhny Novgorod Region, up 16.4%. Prices for Lipetsk Region was increased by 15.5%, prices for Belgorod, Kaluga and Oryol Regions were upgraded by 15.4%, and by 15.3% for Bryansk and Penza Regions.

The FTS attributed the more significant price upturn in several regions to the changing approach to price regulation in the area of gas transportation: the Service plans to relate the value of gas to such a factor as the regions where it is produced and consumed. As for regions where prices have increased the least includes Kurgan Region, up 14.3%, Perm Territory, up 14.4%, Altai Territory, Kemerovo and Omsk Regions, up 14.6%. Prices for industrial consumers from Moscow, Moscow Region, Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region have grown by 15.2%.
