OREANDA-NEWS. January 11, 2011. UVK Logistics summed up the results of departing year which, as noted, ‘became very important for it’, and not only in terms of measurable indicators, such as transportation turnover, customer business turnover, market share, expansion of geographical presence, but also in terms of events important to the company itself and the logistics market in general. ‘We ended the year 2010 successfully’, says UVK Commercial Director Yuri Avdysh, speaking about how our company could achieve these results.

The first half of 2010 became the gulp of fresh air all market participants without exception were longing for. The situation has stabilized, and we had to work hard to offset the losses of the previous, crisis period. The growing demand, on the one hand, and fundamental changes on the market itself, on the other, became indicators of the reviving transportation and logistics services market.

The need to get adapted to the new realities and instantly respond to the rapid market changes taught us to take into account even the slightest nuances when setting the goals and planning the future development. The skill of setting realistic goals helped us not only achieve the positive financial indicators we’ve got but not to abandon development, training, and implementation of new technologies.

Our company’s fast escape from crisis and the growing performance results were helped by the continuous analysis of market conditions and adaptation of the sales policy’, comments UVK Commercial Director Yuri Avdysh. ‘We introduced gradation of all our customers depending on their need in logistics services, and devised a clear scheme of working with each of them on the basis of, as we call it, the CDP (Customer Development Plan). Also, we launched a strict planning system, which helped set the guidelines for understanding of necessary results and the methods of achieving them.’

It is also worth noting that thanks to the intensification of efforts in the sales and marketing areas, the monthly inflow of new customers returned to the pre-crisis level, which proves attractiveness of UVK’s services and gives all reasons to look in the company’s future with optimism.

Our company is growing as well: the number of our personnel went up by 12%.

Besides the number of large tenders we won, we implemented several complex logistical projects: an exclusive project of address delivery of books to Ukrainian libraries, jointly with Blue Water Shipping, for the New Era Publishing House, Denmark; a project of supporting Shell’s global loyalty program using piece-by-piece warehousing technology at UVK’s warehouse terminal in Kyiv.

In addition to the commercial component, service quality remained one of the key priorities for UVK (as for any other service company) in 2010, and the high quality of our service was certified by an independent supervisory audit for compliance with ISO 9001:2008. On top of that, the degree of our customers’ satisfaction surged to 94.5% in October 2010.

Also, in 2010 UVK launched a number of IT projects, with implementation of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM and the GPS transport monitoring system being the most large-scale of them. For the convenience of our customers, in the second half of 2010 we launched a new service – the SMS Notification of Delivery.

Taking an active stance toward development of logistics market, UVK became a partner of specialized conferences, trade fairs, and professional forums. Our company came up with the idea which led to the establishment of the Logistics and Transportation Committee under the American Chamber of Commerce (ACC). The Committee became an effective communication site for exchanging experience, discussing contemporary problems of the logistics industry, and proposing the ways of solving them.

Speaking about development plans for 2011, we plan the growth of all performance indicators: domestic cargo transportation by 40%, warehousing and commercial storage services by 20%, international forwarding services by 80%, customs brokerage services by 15%.

We also plan active expansion of our presence in the regions due to a more aggressive commercial policy, a number of interesting marketing projects aimed at the enlargement of our customer base, and comprehensive improvement of the cargo flow servicing quality to the planned index of 99%.

With the beginning of 2011 UVK will launch an absolute novelty for the logistics market – a service which will give even the greater impulse not only to the strengthening of our company’s market position but to the new challenges we give to the market.
