OREANDA-NEWS. January 14, 2011. Belarus will have a transition period to phase down its farm subsidies by 2016, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said during a session of the Council of Ministers.

This matter is regulated by the Agreement on unified rules of state support for agriculture, which is part of the package of CEA deals. “The Belarusian side insisted on having a transition period until 2016,” he said.

According to him, Belarus has undertaken to reduce the level of support for agriculture to 16% of the gross farm output in 2011, to 15% in 2012, 14% in 2013, 13% in 2014, 12% in 2015 and 19% in 2016.

In 2010, state support for agribusiness is projected to reach 15.7%.
