OREANDA-NEWS. January 14, 2011. TEO LT, AB, the largest provider of integrated telecommunication, IT and TV services in Lithuania, which this year is upgrading its core communications network, has selected Huawei, one of the leaders in providing solutions for next generation telecommunications networks for operators around the world, as equipment supplier. According the contract signed between the companies, this year TEO will purchase from Huawei equipment for more than LTL 7 million.

After the upgrading of the equipment, which ensures connectivity between different cities and parts of cities, and the improvement of the network architecture, the speed in TEO's core network will increase by more than two times.

According to Darius Didzhgalvis, Chief Technology Officer and Deputy General Manager of TEO, the fiber-optic network, which has been expanded at extremely fast rates during the recent years, allowed us to increase the Internet speed for customers by several tens of times. "We are planning to increase the Internet speed in the future as well, therefore a reliable and fast operation of TEO network is of the utmost importance", - D. Didzhgalvis said.

"Stable and high-quality service provision is largely ensured in those chains of TEO network that are not visible to the customer - in the fiber-optic cables interconnecting all the cities of Lithuania and in the exchanges processing transferred data. From now on, tested and reliable equipment from Huawei will be operating in most of them", - D. Didzhgalvis said.

Huawei, a developer of telecommunications network solutions, currently supplies equipment to many European as well as Lithuanian telecommunications service providers.

According to James Chen, Managing Director of Huawei Nordic & Baltic, this contract has started a long-term successful cooperation with TEO, which will have opportunities to further improve the quality of its services.
