OREANDA-NEWS. January 18, 2011. A mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will be working in Belarus from January 25 to February 2, 2011 in order to adjust its macroeconomic forecast for 2011-2015 taking into account the agreements on the formation of the Common Economic Area and on oil prices reached in December 2010, IMF Resident Representative in Belarus Natalia Koliadina made a statement.

“The mission will be working January 25 through February 2. It will continue the work of the previous mission that came to Belarus in November 2010. The new mission will adjust the macroeconomic forecast for 2011-2015 while factoring in the agreements on the Common Economic Area and on oil prices reached in December 2010,” Koliadina said.

According to her, the mission will assess the impact of the new agreements on the Belarusian economy in 2011 and in the medium term and continue consultations with the authorities regarding economic policies and structural reform.

The new mission will not address the possibility of a new Stand-By Arrangement for Belarus. “It will continue Article IV consultations, which started in November and is necessitated by the influence of the new agreements on the Belarusian economy,” Koliadina said.
