OREANDA-NEWS. January 18, 2011. Since 1 January 2011 LatRailNet, an independent subsidiary of SJSC Latvijas dzelzcels (LDz), provides the allocation of rail infrastructure capacity and the determination of rail infrastructure charges.

The new company – Joint Stock Company LatRailNet was founded in accordance with the amendments of the Railway Law of the Republic of Latvia. 100% of the shares belong to State Joint Stock Company Latvijas dzelzcels.

The new company performs the following functions: determines rail infrastructure charges, allocates rail infrastructure capacity, int.al. takes decisions on train path allocation to the carriers.

Mr Ainis Sturmanis is appointed as Chairman of the Board of LatRailNet. Until 22 December 2010 he was a Chairman of the Board of LDz Infrastruktura Ltd., a subsidiary of LDz.

Latvijas dzelzcels Group consists of the holding company State Joint Stock Company Latvijas dzelzcels and five subsidiaries – Joint Stock Company LatRailNet (company providing allocation of rail infrastructure capacity and determination  of rail infrastructure charges), LDz Cargo Ltd. (freight operator), LDz Infrastruktura Ltd. (infrastructure construction and maintenance company), LDz Ritosa sastava serviss Ltd. (rolling stock repairs and maintenance company), and LDz Apsardze Ltd. (security company).
