OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2011. In the period January – December 2010 the company transported about 464 000 passengers, which exceeds by 15% the indexes of the year 2009. The greatest growth of a volume of passenger traffic is noted on directions Bucharest (105%), Milan (91%), Moscow (+17) and Sankt Petersburg (+14%), reported the press-centre of Air Moldova.

In 2010, Air Moldova opened two new destinations to Munich and Kiev. On the new destination Chisinau-Munich the airline had been transported 4300 passengers and 2100 passengers to the new route Chisinau-Kiev. In August 2010 the airline increased the flight frequency on the route Chisinau-Istanbul, from 7 to 9 flights per week. Air Moldova operates daily flights to Ataturk International Airport and two flights a week to the international airport Sabiha Gokcen, located on the Asian side of Istanbul.

In 2010 “Air Moldova” airline embarked on a fleet modernisation program. In may, the fleet was replenished by a new aircraft Embraer 190JET. Due to this increased the accrual of carriage in terms of both passenger and fright transportation.

In 2010, more than 2600 passengers benefited from the regular seasonal flights on the route Chisinau-Varna -Chisinau, which exceed by 53% the results from 2009. A new seasonal line Chisinau- Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt)- Chisinau was opened on November 20, 2010. Due to the partnership with the top tour operators from Moldova, the airline operates charter flights once a week.

More than 7200 passengers travelled within Air&Rail program, implemented by Air Moldova in partnership with “Deutsche Bahn AG”. Air&Rail program gives the opportunity to get from Frankfurt airport to any of 6000 railway stations situated in Germany and back. The cost of ticket includes air transportation from Chisinau to Frankfurt and from Frankfurt to any of 6000 railway stations.

Implemented airline marketing initiatives, attracted new, not previously existed on the airline market in Moldova, transfer passengers who used the flights "Air Moldova" from Moscow and St.-Petersburg to Europe trough Chisinau, as a transit point. In 2009 "Air Moldova" carried 9000 transit passengers via hub in Chisinau. The number of transit passengers in 2010 has accrued by 500% as compared to the precedent year.

Tickets sales on-line via the official website www.airmoldova.md become breakthrough in 2010. For the last three years since its launch, the service has gained vast popularity among the customers of Air Modova. In the span January- December 2010, the number of tickets sold on-line has roared up to 30 000.

In 2010, Air Moldova signed interline-agreements with– Syrian Arab Airlines, Aerosvit Ukrainian Airlines and Eau Etihad Airways. In plus, the code-share partnerships have been established with other renowned air carriers.

Air Moldova operates flights to 17 destinations, Frankfurt, Vienna, Bucharest, Istanbul, Lisbon, Madrid, London, Athens, Larnaka, Rome, Milan, Verona, Paris, Moscow, St.Petersburg, Munich, Kiev, offering to its passengers two Class of service - Business and Economy.
