OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2011. The Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service in the Primorie region (Primorie OFAS Russia), initiated a case against “GRASP Company” Ltd., which is one of the largest sugar supplier in the region. The case is based on a petition of the Primorie Regional Department of Licensing and Trade and the instructions of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) to tighten control over sale of food products, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The antimonopoly body requested “GRASP Company” Ltd. to explain the situation with increasing prices for the following food products: vegetable oil, buckwheat and granulated sugar.

An inspection showed that “GRASP Company” Ltd. has an over 35% share of the wholesale market of granulated sugar in the Primorie region.

Primorie OFAS Russia concluded that actions of “GRASP Company” Ltd. had the sings of violating the antimonopoly law: fixing and maintaining monopolistically high prices on the wholesale market for distribution of granulate sugar in the Primorie region from 1st August to 30th September 2010.
