OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2011. ENRC and akim of Karagandy region signed a memorandum on mutual co-operation on social projects for 2011. Serik Akhmetov, akim of the region and Felix Vulis, chief executive director of ENRC have shown that the parties are ready to unite efforts in supporting the region's development, reported the press-centre of KASE.

As usual, ENRC every year undertakes to finance important regional economic, infrastructural, and cultural projects. From 2008 to 2010 the company spent over KZT2 bn on several projects, including construction of residential complex Sary-Arka, financing of a new hospital in Karagandy, developing the regional infrastructure etc.

In 2011, the Memorandum's budget equals around KZT717.3 m. ENRC Komek, the corporation's fund, together with Kazakhstan-based ENRC enterprises will provide financing. Among the projects are the construction of a new mosque in Karagandy (KZT130 m), and the First President's museum in Temirtau (KZT300 m). The broad range of infrastructural projects includes facades of residential blocks along Mir ave., one of central streets in Karagandy, repair works in villages Zhairem and Atasu etc.

Like in years before, the company undertakes to assign substantial funds to charity aimed at cultural, educational and public institutions. Material aid to veterans, supporting of sportsmen in the run-up to Olympics 2012, financing construction of a regional museum are in the plans.

Mr. Vulis said: "I can assure you that ENRC is firm to retain its reputation as a socially responsible business in Kazakhstan. I am completely sure that we will be eyewitnesses to many ceremonies of that kind, where partners shake hands, take on liabilities and fulfill them".

ENRC concludes similar memorandums with executive bodies of Pavlodar, Kostanai and Aktyubinsk regions. In 2010 the total value of project in the four regions reached KZT5 bn.
