OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2011. Net foreign assets of the Belarusian government and National Bank of Belarus (NBB) amounted to USD 3.552 billion as of January 1, 2011, down 27.6% in January-December, the National Bank of Belarus stated.

The increase was due to a rise in gross foreign assets by 1.4% in January-December to USD 6 billion and a 140% increase in liabilities to USD 2.448 billion as of January 1, 2011.

Net foreign assets placed in hard currency amounted to USD 3.48 billion as of January 1, 2011, while soft currency assets were at the equivalent of USD 71.9 million.

In 2009, Belarus’ net foreign assets increased 53.3% to USD 4.908 billion.
