OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2011. The passenger traffic growth in 2010 in comparison with the previous year was 15.18%, according to the airport’s press release. The maximal number of flights was registered on August 28 (51 flights).

The maximal passenger traffic was registered on the same day – 4813 people. Over 13.75 thousand takeoff and landing operations were performed in 2010 in the Chisinau airport, up 11.29% against the year of 2009. The most number of the Chisinau airport’s passengers were transported in 2010 by the Air Moldova airline (48.9% of the total amount), Turkish Airlines (10.53%), S7 Airlines (9.45%), Meridiana (7.37%) and Carpatair (4.95%).

The most popular directions in 2010 were Moscow – 24.32% of the total traffic, Istanbul – 13.31%, Antalya – 7.05%, Verona - 6.27%, Frankfurt - 5.64%, Timisoara – 4.93%. The cargo traffic in 2010 totaled 1815.57 tones, exceeding the indicator of 2009 by 11.26%. Mail traffic in the Chisinau Airport in 2010 totaled 583.69 tones, up 49.34% against the previous year.

The number of airlines providing services in the Moldovan aviation market increased in 2010 from 13 to 17 companies as four airlines came to the market: Lufthansa, Utair, Atlasjet, Aerosvit. New flight directions were opened in the Chisinau Airport in 2010: to Surgut, Sochi, Varna, Munchen, Keiv, Sharm el-Sheikh, Instanbul Sabiha.
