OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2011. OJSC Saratov Oil Refinery (subsidiary of TNK-BP) started production of diesel fuel meeting the Euro 4 standard. Use of this diesel fuel reduces the environmental impact of vehicles and substantially improves technical characteristics of vehicles, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

Improving the quality of products is just one stage in TNK-BP’s major investment program for 2011–2012 oriented to output of oil products meeting the Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards at the Saratov Oil Refinery.

In the nearest two years, the company is going to build an isomerization unit at the refinery, complete works for reconstructing and upgrading the fuel hydro-treatment complex, and implement other project with an overall cost over USD 300 million.

“TNK-BP’s strategy is aimed at becoming a leader among private oil companies. Much attention for this reason is paid to development of our oil-refining assets, including the Saratov Oil Refinery. We are striving to implement a program for raising the quality of products and increasing the volume of refining in a shortest possible time. Implementation of this program will improve the environmental situation in the region and offer high-quality fuel to customers,” said Alexander Romanov, General Director of OJSC Saratov Oil Refinery.

The content of sulfur in Euro 4 diesel fuel is reduced to 50 mg/kg, which increases the service life of diesel motors.
