OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2011. Vnukovo International has stepped up its overall security profile, putting in place additional procedures and measures as part of its Emergency (terrorism threat) Response Plan. The hub's Airport Security Division is working alongside the municipal police force, with the staff numbers and operating schedules of both bolstered accordingly.

Comprehensive security screening of all the incoming air travelers, meeters, senders, and visitors, as well as that of their baggage and personal effects with the aid of walk-through and portable metal detectors, and x-ray scanners, has been deployed at every entrance to Vnukovo's mainline passenger terminals. An ample number of entrance checkpoints in the Airport's three mainline terminals enables swift individual screening with no extended queueing, and hence no backups of foot and baggage traffic.

The air travelers are kept continually advised of the stepped up security measures throughout the Airport and reminded to remain particularly vigilant and circumspect. 24/7 closed circuit video surveillance is maintained not only throughout the Airport's terminals, but all over the forecourt and the adjacent public-access and operating areas as well.

The access control routines involving all incoming people and vehicular traffic have likewise been tightened throughout the Airport, the forecourt area and the nearby ongoing construction projects. Extra security measures and additional on-board screening and checks are being carried out prior to flights' departure from and upon their arrival at the Airport.

With a view to anticipating and preventing any acts of unauthorized interference in Vnukovo's operations, emergency headquarters have been set up, headed by Vasily Alexandrov, the Airport's Director General.

We kindly solicit our passengers' understanding and cooperation with regard to the Airport's current high-security profile, and advise them to leave for the Airport in plenty of time prior to their flights' departure from gates.
