OREANDA-NEWS. January 31, 2011. It was said at the conference “Regional Development Policy in Moldova: Achievements and Prospects” organized by the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction.

The projects were launched in late 2010 and are funded from the National regional development fund. Last year, the fund was replenished by about 1.75 million euros as a grant offered by the UK government. According to the authorities, 56 projects were selected and approved for financing in 2010-2012.

In this context, Prime Minister Vladimir Filat noted the government’s actions in terms of the regional development to be taken in 2011-2014: to improve the regulatory basis and the regional projects funding mechanism, to support initiatives in the regions and implementation of projects through different kinds of partnership.

European officials participated in the conference and highly appreciated state initiatives in this area, saying they will support our country in implementation of the reforms on the regional level. The conference marked the completion of the “Moldova: Regional Cooperation Development” project implemented with financial support of the UK Government and Swedish International Development Agency.
