OREANDA-NEWS. February 01, 2011. Halyk Savings Bank of Kazakhstan and Passenger Traffic, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy are to implement a joint project on installation of transactional self-service terminals enabling automated sale of train tickets, reported the press-centre of KASE.

Transactional Self-service Terminals (TST) are devices for selling tickets on-line based on a technology allowing an individual to generate tickets on his own. TSTs are an integral part of the information-transactional system for sale of tickets for long-distance trains and local traffic. This system is going to increase the service level in the railway traffic via granting to passengers of access to data from the Express data base; it allows passengers to draw up information necessary for their tickets at long distances and in local traffic; it enables payment for tickets on-line using a bank card and receipt of tickets.

Installation of TSTs is carried out under a complex of measures aimed at increasing comfort and improving services for passengers. TSTs will boost electronic sales of tickets, reduce lines at ticket sales points and provide transparency in generating and purchase of tickets.

Passenger Traffic has bought and installed 10 TSTs at railway stations in Almaty, Astana, Karagandy, Aktobe. Another 10 TSTs are supposed to be set up at railway stations in large cities across Kazakhstan.

Co-operation of Halyk Savings Bank of Kazakhstan with Passenger Traffic on installation of TSTs began in September 2010. The bank is acting as an acquirer bank, which allows cardholders of any bank to purchase tickets at TSTs.
