OREANDA-NEWS. February 02, 2011. The Belarusian Economy Ministry on February 1, 2011 abolishes a number of restrictions currently imposed on the procedure of formation of selling and retail prices, and simplifies the mechanism of formation and application of selling prices and discounts, the press service of the ministry reports with reference to resolution #196.

The document abolishes the markup limitation of not more than 30% applied to the price of imported commodities, and the wholesale markup limitation of not more than 20% charged by retail organizations, except for the commodities included in annex 1. The list includes 50 commodities – meat productions, eggs, sausage, cheese, dairy products, cereals, pasta, vegetables, fish, potatoes, medical products and equipment.

At the same time, the limitations apply when forming selling and retail prices of socially significant products.

Also, the document simplifies the mechanism of applying discounts on selling prices and dividing wholesale discounts. The resolution abolishes the requirement to apply fixed discounts and terms of provision of discounts. “This will enable business entities to respond with more flexibility to changes in the market situation and use the mechanism of discounts more efficiently.”
