OREANDA-NEWS. February 07, 2011. Doctor Web maintains information security of the Asian Winter Games 2011 held in the Republic of Kazakhstan from January 30 till February 7. All computers operating in sports facilities in the cities where the Games take place — Almaty and Astana — are protected from viruses by Dr.Web.

The contest participated by athletes from the Olympic Council of Asia member countries was held in Japan, South Korea and China. The first Games took place in 1986. In 2011 the Games came to the CIS for the first time gathering together athletes from 27 Asian countries. Doctor Web whose branch office is located in Kazakhstan provided its business solutions to protect file servers and personal computers used to organize the Asiad.

The Games Opening occurred in Astana on January 30. While making preparations for the event, the organizers paid special attention to the security of the Asiad IT environment. In the run-up to the Opening Ceremony computers in several press-centres in Astana and Almaty got protection against malware.

Dr.Web makes surethat journalists covering the event can safely use the Internet and exchange information with each other and their colleagues in other cities and countries. One hundred and fifty personal computers in the Almaty press-centre and press-centres located by sporting sites involved in the Games such as the Medeo skating rink and the Chimbulak mountain ski resort are also shielded against Internet threats by Dr.Web anti-viruses.

The Asiad 20100 is now in full swing and Dr.Web is confident to do its job well.
