OREANDA-NEWS. February 07, 2011. President of Microsoft International Jean-Philippe Courtois and CEO of DTEK Maxim Timchenko discussed the prospects of increased cooperation between the companies during a bilateral meeting at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
 
The bulk of the meeting was dedicated to the presentation of DTEK’s key business initiatives and discussion of possible areas where innovative Microsoft technologies could be used to achieve key business goals of the energy holding.
 
“Our cooperation with DTEK - one of the largest customers in Ukraine - is a vivid example of how technology helps business strengthen its competitive advantages. I would like to reinforce Microsoft’s commitment to be a key enabler through our technology for DTEK’s business, particularly in the areas of business intelligence, smart grid and cloud computing”, - says Jean-Philippe Courtois.
 
The sides also discussed the possibility of joint projects on corporate social responsibility, identifying areas for possible collaboration.
 
Maxim Timchenko, CEO of DTEK, adds:
 
"We have had a long successful story of cooperation between two our companies. Within the last 3 years DTEK is introducing cutting edge technologies of Microsoft in its IT infrastructure. Today we see an opportunity to overcome only technology cooperation. DTEK is going to support Microsoft initiatives in educational sphere – introduction of IT-based educational system in Ukrainian schools and to improve computer literacy in the cities of DTEK’s presence.”
 
DTEK is the first among Ukrainian enterprises which has implemented innovative Microsoft products -Windows 7 and server operating system Windows Server 2008 R2.

DTEK is the first private vertically-integrated power company in Ukraine. It is part of the financial and industrial group System Capital Management (SCM). The enterprises of DTEK build up an efficient operational chain of coal production and preparation, electricity generation and distribution.
