OREANDA-NEWS. February 08, 2011. Kazakhmys Group allocated KZT107 million for reconstruction of Tokrau-Sayak conduit in Karaganda region. The reconstruction shall be completed by the end of February 2011. The total cost of reconstruction being implemented jointly with Karaganda Region Akimat shall make up over KZT220 million, reported the press-centre of KASE. 

Existing at present conduit has been constructed in 1966 and is at the emergency condition. The population of Sayak village that is located 220 km from Balkhash city and on the territory of which is located the Sayak pit have problems with drinking water.

Kazakhmys Corporation Board Chairman Edward Ogai commented: "Reconstruction of the conduit is one of the examples of out company participation in joint projects with regional akimats aimed at development of an infrastructure and housing areas. We feel responsible for regions where we have our enterprises and importance of their population life conditions improvement."
