OREANDA-NEWS. February 09, 2011. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko does not rule out that a potash deposit may be granted to a foreign investor for development. Lukashenko was speaking in the lower chamber of parliament, the House of Representatives.

“Why not offer this deposit to a normal controllable investor that agrees to meet all our requirements?” Lukashenko said.

He added that foreign investors would be offered a deposit close to Soligorsk, not the one in Glusk District, “where we have good deposits and big plans.”

“Belaruskali has enough deposits for 50 years, and only after that will the Belarusian maker start working on the deposits that the foreign investor is interested in now. What will happen in 50 or a hundred years? We have other things to develop,” Lukashenko said.
