OREANDA-NEWS. February 09, 2011. According to the results of 2010, KAMAZ maintained its positions as a dominating player on the automobile market of Kazakhstan having increased its shares in the main market segments and total volumes of deliveries. The Central Asian country developing its own automobile industry with the help of KAMAZ became the best importer of the company’s products again.

A heavy-duty truck market of the Republic of Kazakhstan is historically one of the largest and most important outlets for KAMAZ. And it will be of great importance to KAMAZ under any economic conditions.

Kazakhstan faced the global crisis as far back as in the fourth quarter of 2007, earlier than other CIS countries. As a result, 2008 and 2009 turned out to be absolutely recessive years. It affected the automobile market of the country especially deeply. State-owned companies, the main users of trucks, considerably reduced purchases. Thus, KAMAZ sold 7 thousand units in 2007, 2,200 units in 2008, and 480 units in 2009.

In 2010, Kazakhstan’s economic circumstances became more favorable, which had a positive effect on sales of KAMAZ machinery and spare parts. As a result, KAMAZ put over 1.5 thousand trucks on the country’s market. This is almost 40% of the company’s export. The company delivered both complete sets of vehicles and assembly sets of vehicles for the further assembly at the plant of AO KAMAZ-Engineering JSC in the city of Kokshetau where over 500 KAMAZ vehicles were assembled last year. The share of KAMAZ machinery in Kazakhstan was approximately from 33% to 38% in 2010. The company has got the strongest positions in the segment of all-wheel-drive vehicles where its share exceeded 70% of the sales of new vehicles. Last year, spare parts for KAMAZ vehicles to the tune of 680 million roubles were realized in Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh truck fleet numbers about 185 thousand units of all kinds of machinery, including 85 thousand KAMAZ vehicles. Many vehicles have been used for over 13 years, on the average. Nevertheless, fleet replacement has been moving faster during the latest years thanks to a targeted technological and export-and-customs policy of the state, KAMAZ’s deliveries of assembly sets and finished products, and also – production of special machinery on KAMAZ chassis organized in various cities of the republic. To date, there is a strong customer demand on the automobile market of Kazakhstan: 86% of trucks sold there are new vehicles, and only 14% of them are used cars. The largest suppliers to the market in 2010 were KAMAZ and Chinese producers.

Besides the above mentioned enterprise in the city of Kokshetau, KAMAZ’s commodity distribution network in Kazakhstan includes OJSC KAMAZ’s subsidiary TOO Torgovaya Kompaniya KAMAZ and 29 dealers selling vehicles and spare parts, including 16 dealers with a status of certified service centers. KAMAZ’s sales pattern in 2010 was balanced and covered all spheres of use of vehicles: meeting all economic requirements, the company sold high-sided vehicles, dump trucks, special-purpose vehicles, chassis, truck tractors, etc.

According to preliminary figures, KAMAZ expects to deliver no less vehicles and spare parts to Kazakhstan in 2011 than in 2010.
