OREANDA-NEWS. February 11, 2011. Yekaterinburg’s Koltsovo International Airport plans to invest 2.7 billion rubles in the reconstruction of Strigino Airport in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod, the press office of the Koltsovo Airport said Tuesday.

Koltsovo Airport was chosen at a tender to find an investor for the development of Nizhny Novgorod International Airport, which operates Strigino Airport,.

Under the reconstruction project for 2011–2021, Koltsovo Airport plans to buy 73.621% in Nizhny Novgorod International Airport through an offering of additional shares. The regional government is to hold 25.001% in the airport as the offering is completed.

As part of the upgrade, Koltsovo Airport plans to build a 1 billion ruble passenger terminal with a capacity of 600 passengers per hour as well as reconstruct existing airport facilities.

Koltsovo International Airport is the Sverdlovsk Region’s largest airport, servicing the regional capital Yekaterinburg to destinations in Europe and Asia.
