OREANDA-NEWS. February 17, 2011. Yandex and VimpelCom (trademarked as Beeline) have agreed to provide free internet access to the users of the mobile application Yandex.Maps. Now, the Beeline clients anywhere in Russia can use Yandex’s mapping service as much as they like – in the new version of the Yandex.Maps mobile application the data usage is not charged.

Yandex.Maps for mobile helps the owners of mobile devices find their way around the city using their gadgets. The application allows to find an address or a business on a map, track down one’s own location or check the roads with the traffic map. Currently, the application offers detailed maps for over 150 cities in Russia, from Smolensk to Nakhodka.

“The Yandex.Maps for mobile has always been and still is free to download and to use, all the users had to pay for was the data usage,” says Aleksandr Sereda, the Yandex.Maps marketing manager. “Thanks to Beeline, a huge number of people can now enjoy the opportunity to use Yandex.Maps without worrying about their internet access bills.”

Yandex.Maps for mobile with free data usage is available for download at mobile.yandex.ru/maps/beeline/mappromo.xml or from a mobile device at m.ya.ru/ymm/beeline. Roaming charges will apply to Beeline clients using the application outside their region. The application supports all popular platforms including Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Java.
