OREANDA-NEWS. February 21, 2011. A Coordinating Board on bridge and construction steel supply was held at  the Ural Steel plant.  Representatives of Metalloinvest Management Company, Central Scientific Research Institute of Construction, and seven leading Russian bridge construction companies (including Mostovik, Ulan-Udestalmost, Chelyabinsk Steel Structures Plant) attend the meeting.

The board discussed prospects for the future cooperation and opportunities of customized supplies. Ural Steel’s top-manager Nazim Efendiev noted that participation in the Sochi-2014 Olympics and the World Cup-2018 programmes had become the main priority in the plant’s work. “It is very important for all of us - steel producers, bridge builders, construction plants. We should be ready to meet all needs and provide necessary volumes and quality ".

During the meeting it was decided that Ural Steel will take part in a workgroup for a new edition of national standards (GOST) for rolled metal for bridge constructions and will participate in joint technology implementation project in order to develop the plant’s most promising production lines. “Ural Steel” also announced the full compliance of the company’s products  with new building regulations "2.05.03-84 "Bridges and Tubes" that becomes effective from May 20, 2011.

Members of the board also discussed quality issues: chemical compositions, strength characteristics and surface conditions of the steel. CEO of Chelyabinsk Steel Structures Plant Valeriy Vinogradov noted the benefits of long-term cooperation and emphasized favorable price and quality conditions of the Ural Steel plant. “Sochi Olympic stadiums are our main joint project”, he said.

Metalloinvest Management Company representatives said, that the situation on the steel market required new ideas and methods to strengthen positions of Ural Steel. The decisions of the Coordinating Board will help the company to meet the targeted goals.
