OREANDA-NEWS. February 25, 2011.The PM told the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valerii Lazar to order the state’s representatives in the Moldtelecom JSC Administrative Board to hold an extraordinary sitting and to include the issue of annulment of the Board’s decision of December 20, 2010 on approval of tariffs for fixed communication into the agenda.

The PM told to stop examination and approval of the mentioned tariffs for consultations and taking of the decision acceptable for the government. Prime Minister said that despite his previous orders, nothing had been done yet in order to stop the lawlessness of the company with the dominating state in the market which is not going to give up revision of tariffs for fixed communication and is continuing informing society of its intentions giving rise to population’s discontent on the background of other rises in prices.

Vladimir Filat said one could see the obvious complicity of the regulating institutions (the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technologies, National Agency for Competition Protection) and Ministry of Economy with Moldtelecom managers to realize the “optimization of tariffs for fixed telephone communication services” program which was not agreed upon with the government.

Vladimir Filat underlined that the gravity of the situation is aggravated, as in addition to the personal responsibility bore by the head of the Ministry of Economy as a head of the authorized institution, there is also a collective social responsible to the society bore by the government as a whole. He stressed that the problem damages the state’s vital interests and no further tension in the society should be allowed.
