OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2011. The cost of a liter grew 0.5 leis – from 13.9 to 14.4 leis. The increase resulted from the growth of oil- and oil products prices in the international markets. As it was reported earlier, the previous rise in prices for diesel oil and petrol in the country took place in mid-January.

Brent oil’s cost then totaled USD 98.3 for a barrel, on the PLATTS’ market, the price of a tone of petrol was USD 881, that of a tone of diesel - USD 839.

Therefore, the oil price has increased 19.8% since mid-January and oil products at PLATTS’ have risen in price by 10.6% (diesel) and 5.1%( petrol). If such tendency of the global price growth keeps on, Moldovan importers might increase the cost of petrol as well. Currently its retail price is 15.35 leis for a liter (Ai-95).
