OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2011. Freight One hauled 211,000 metric tons of coking coal from Tuva mega-deposits in 2010, up from 8000 tons in 2009.

The coal is hauled to enrichment and coke-chemical plants of the Kuzbass and Urals regions.

The increase in traffic in 2010 is due to increased domestic demand for coking coal and higher prices specified in delivery contracts. Since Tuva has no rail line nearby, the company is working according to an intermodal scheme. The coal is hauled by dump trucks from the mines to Minusinsk Station (Krasnoyarsk Railway) via the region’s only federal highway, the first-complexity-category M—54 Yenisei. More than 200 heavy-duty trucks ply the route on a typical day.

At the station, the coking coal is reloaded onto Freight One gondolas. An effective logistical model has also been created in which empty cars are supplied for the haulage of Tuva coking coals coming from the east, which, after unloading at the destination stations, are used for the next shipment in the same place.
