OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2011. In January 2011, Freight One saw its traffic volumes increase by 23.8% over the same period of 2010 to 26.1 million metric tons.

This figure includes 9.5 million metric tons of coal (+28.6%), 6.2 million tons of oil (-0.9%), 2.5 million tons of ore (+24.8%), 1.4 million tons of building materials (+120.9%), 0.6 million tons of cement (+53.6%), 1.9 million tons of ferrous metals (+34.1%), 0.7 million tons of chemicals and fertilizers (+56.2%) and 0.9 million tons of timber (+48.4%).

The higher traffic was the result of an action plan aimed at creating optimal logistics routes by increasing the proportion of loading operations performed on the spot immediately after unloading, and reducing empty mileage.

Freight One increased its share of freight traffic in Russia to 24.1% in January 2011 (by 2.1 percentage points over the same period of 2010).
