OREANDA-NEWS. March 04, 2011. The total volume of sales in the mobile telephony market of Moldova in 2010 amounted to 3,454.1 million leis (USD 289.3 million), up 13.9% against 2009. The indicators’ growth resulted from the increase in the number of users and traffic in mobile telephony networks, according to the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technologies.

Consolidation of positions of the mobile telephony market in the field of electronic communications resulted from the increase if sales of Orange Moldova and Moldcell companies. Particularly, Orange Moldova’s sales grew 13.6%, Moldcell’s sales – 18.7%, while Moldtelecom saw a 4.7% reduction in sales.

Average revenue per user (ARPU) of three mobile telephony operators of Moldova amounted to 99.4 leis, dowm 1.3% from 2009. Orange Moldova had ARPU amounting to 109.74 leis, Moldcell - 74.14 leis, Moldtelecom – 70.88 leis. Orange Moldova accounted for the biggest market share in terms of sales in 2010 – 72.9%. The market shares of Moldcell and Moldtelecom constituted, respectively, 24.2% and 2.9%. Three operators worked in the mobile telephony market of Moldova in 2010: Orange Moldova, Moldcell and Moldtelecom under the Unite trademark.
