OREANDA-NEWS. March 04, 2011. U.S. oil giant ConocoPhillips (COP) said it has terminated its participation a coalbed-methane program in Qinshui, China.

Conoco said it ended its participation in the program in the fourth quarter of last year.

In 2009, the Houston company entered in a drilling-evaluation pilot program in the area that was supposed to last between 12 and 18 months, it said. Qinshui is supposed to contain some of China's largest reserves of coalbed methane, or CBM.
