OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2011. OJSC Belaruskali plans to build a chemical plant to process chloride-containing raw materials with a capacity of 10,000 tonnes of 100% potassium hydroxide annually, the producer said in a statement.

The plant will be making potassium hydroxide, hydrogen chloride and liquid chlorine and will export its make and sell it domestically. The construction will be financed from the company’s own funds.

The potash maker also plans to build a production of NPK compounds with an annual capacity of 240,000 tonnes, which will also be financed from the company’s own funds.

Previously, Belaruskali decided to implement the project to produce NPK-compound independently.

Earlier, Belaruskali suspended talks with Lithuanian Arvi ir ko over the creation of a joint venture to produce NPK-compound.

The key Russian makers of NPK compounds are Phosagro, Akron, Eurochem and Uralchem.
