OREANDA-NEWS.  March 15, 2011. OFS, a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of innovative fiber optic network products, today announced the commercial release of its IPLM polarimeter device. The IPLM is a compact, in-line polarimeter device with broad application in the fiber optics industry.

“The IPLM measures the full polarization state, or Stokes vector, in a very compact and optically efficient package. The device has broad application in telecommunications, sensors, and test and measurement,” said Christopher MacGregor, Design Engineer, OFS Specialty Photonics.

The IPLM is a very small, hermetically packaged polarimeter designed to meet Telcordia GR-468 qualification. The device fulfills a market need for high speed and optically broadband polarization measurements. It offers excellent optical performance with <0.8dB insertion loss and <0.15dB polarization dependent loss. This efficiency in optical and mechanical design will allow system and subsystem integrators to integrate polarimetric devices more efficiently in both new and existing applications.

The OFS polarimeter device will be featured in a technical paper presentation, Robust Remote Calibration of Fiber Polarimeters, by Vitaly Mikhailov, Steve Dunn and Paul Westbrook of OFS Labs on Wednesday, March 9th at 9AM PST. The device will also be featured, and data sheets will be available at the OFS Booth (#2019) March 8th-10th at OFC/NFOEC.
