OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2011. Moscow Domodedovo Airport, following the successful completion of its audit in Domodedovo, has been awarded the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) confirming its compliance with globally accepted safety standards.

ISAGO is a standardized and structured audit program of Ground Service Providers (GSP). Modeled on the success of IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit), it uses internationally recognized ground operational standards and recommended practices. The audit is conducted by highly trained and experienced auditors. ISAGO provides GSPs with a model for operational risk & safety management in their organizations and for the first time there is a system for registration and sharing of audit results.

ISAGO offers benefits to airlines, ground handlers, regulatory as well as airport authorities. Among them, safer ground operations, fewer accidents and injuries, elimination of redundant audits, reduced costs, less damage, a uniform audit process and harmonized standards, improved safety oversight, harmonized auditor training and qualifications, improved quality standards, enhanced understanding of high-risk areas within ground operations.

It should be noted that DME went through evaluation in all seven ISAGO sections: Organization and Management (ORM), Aircraft Ground Movements (AGM), Aircraft Handling (HDL), Passenger Handling (PAX), Baggage Handling (BAG), Cargo and Mail Handling (CGM) and Load Control (LOD).

By fulfilling the requirements of the program Moscow Domodedovo Airport has become the only Ground Service Provider in Russia, the CIS and the Baltic States that has entered the ISAGO Registry as a Full-Scope Provider . Now Domodedovo airport may join the group of European airports possessing a complete ISAGO certificate in ground handling services: Amsterdam, Brussels, Lisbon, Zurich, Porto, Faro and Athena.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest airport of Russia providing 43% market share in total passenger traffic in Moscow Aviation Hub. In 2010 22,3 million passengers benefited from Domodedovo services. More than 70 air carries are partnering with the airport while both Russian and foreign airlines are among them. Domodedovo Airport has been chosen for operations to Moscow by member airlines of three world aviation alliances: Star Alliance, oneworld and SkyTeam.
