OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2011. The aggregate transmission capacity of client connections to Rostelecom’s IP/MPLS backbone network has exceeded 1 TBps.

This figure characterizes the overall volume of high-speed Internet access services provided to the operator’s customers.  This aggregate transmission capacity for client connection is not only the highest among all Russian companies, but is also several times higher that the performance achieved by the large industry operators. This reveals Rostelecom’s undisputed leadership on the Internet access market.

Rapid growth in client connections made by Rostelecom is directly attributable to the high quality of high-speed Internet access services.  Thus, according to the connectivity rating released by the world’s most authoritative Internet service quality rating, in terms of connectivity on the markets of Russian Internet traffic and IP transit interconnect, Rostelecom ranks number one.

It should be noted that Rostelecom began to operate on this service market not long ago. During the first quarter of 2008 the total transmission capacity of client connections did not exceed 20 Gbps.  As a result, over the last 3 years, this key performance indicator has risen by more than 50 times.

A steady increase in the volume of advanced telecommunications services provided by Rostelecom, such as high-speed Internet access services and the build-out of virtual private network operators became possible thanks to the company’s major investments in rolling out its IP MPLS network.

Growth of Rostelecom’s IP MPLS network matches the expansion of demand for advanced telecommunications services and makes it possible for the company to bolster its leadership in this segment of the market.
