OREANDA-NEWS. March 18, 2011. The regular, third meeting of the Turkmen-Belarusian Commission for economic cooperation took place at the President Hotel in the Turkmen capital.

A high-level delegation led by Anatoliy Kalinin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus had arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the meeting. The delegation consisted of the heads of departments and sectors of the friendly state, businessmen and top managers of the leading enterprises, including Belgorhimprom, Belorusneft, the machine-building plants, MTZ, MAZ and Fidmash, the insurance companies, including Beleksimgarant, Belgosstrah and others.

The meeting participants evaluated highly the current level of Turkmen-Belarusian relations characterized by high dynamics and the tremendous mutual potential for further development. It was emphasized particularly that a qualitatively new impetus to foster the intergovernmental dialogue had been offered by the top level talks held during the official visit of President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Turkmenistan in 2009 and the official visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Minsk in 2010. The talks resulted in signing bilateral documents that identified the key fields of long-term cooperation.

It was noted at the high-level bilateral forum that intensification of the activity of the Turkmen-Belarusian Commission for economic cooperation corresponded to the increasing willingness of the friendly countries to build up fruitful and mutually advantageous cooperation that was illustrated by the impressive representation at the meeting and a wide range of issues put on the meeting agenda.

The priority fields of partnership included cooperation in the machine-building sector, deliveries of specialized equipment and motor vehicles, agricultural machines, construction of processing plants, adoption of advanced technologies and innovations. Turkmen and Belarusian partners successfully implement the project for construction of the ore-dressing and processing enterprise in Garlyk is being implemented successfully and have identified the promising vectors of partnerships in the chemical and processing industries and the agricultural sector. The ways to intensify business partnership between entrepreneurs and private producers of the two countries, who sought to strengthen direct contacts, including an exchange of experiences and technologies for processing agricultural products in particular, were considered during the meeting. Bilateral partnership in the construction, transport, education and science, culture, sports and tourism sectors was deemed quite promising.

A series of bilateral meetings focusing on key vectors of partnership were held in the framework of the forum that resulted in reaching the concrete agreements to intensify cooperation.

The Belarusian guests visited the museums and landmarks of the Turkmen capital.
