OREANDA-NEWS. March 28, 2011. Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced today that Yokohama Tyre Vietnam, Inc. (YTVI), its key tire production and sales site in Vietnam, has made a contribution to the Hung Vuong Specializing High School’s scholarship fund, and has received a letter of appreciation from the school.

Hung Vuong Specializing High School is a public school in Binh Duong Province, where YTVI is located. On January 21 the school staged a charity concert to commemorate its original opening and invited contributions to its scholarship fund. YTVI received a letter of appreciation from the school on this occasion. Other contributors including a provincial investment and development corporation and universities were also awarded. YTVI donated 5,000,000 Vietnamese dong (approximately 20,000 yen or approximately 250 USD)

Since it commenced business operations in 2008, YTVI has produced bias tires for motorcycles and light trucks for the Vietnamese market, and for industrial vehicles and emergency tires, etc., for the Japanese market. The company has provided money for educational materials and to refurbish local elementary schools, scholarships for students, and financial assistance and materials for relief efforts following the Central Vietnam Typhoon in September 2009. In December 2010, inviting representatives from the management board of the industrial park where YTVI is located, people from a local botanical garden, and local elementary and high-school students, the company held a first-phase tree-planting ceremony as part of Yokohama Rubber’s "Yokohama Forever Forest" Project.
