OREANDA-NEWS. March 29, 2011. The Gazprom headquarters hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee and Sergey Mitin, Governor of the Novgorod Oblast.

The parties discussed gasification of the Oblast. In particular, this year Gazprom has started constructing the Borovichi GDS – Lyubytino inter-settlement gas pipeline over 70 kilometers long, and has nearly completed preparations for the Novgorod-2 GDS – Khutyn inter-settlement gas pipeline construction. In addition, the Company allocated funds to design another two gas pipelines in the Oblast. In 2011 Gazprom is to invest a total of RUB 250 million in the regional gasification.

Alexey Miller and Sergey Mitin also considered gasification of the Novgorod Oblast in 2012.
Background

The Agreement of Cooperation between Gazprom and the Novgorod Oblast Government was signed in January 2005, the Accord on Gasification – in December 2003.

Between 2002 and 2010 Gazprom invested RUB 905.5 million in the Novgorod Oblast gasification increasing the average gas penetration level in it by 6.3 per cent – to 50.6 per cent, particularly by 6.5 per cent – to 69.6 per cent in cities and towns and by 5.4 per cent – to 14.2 per cent in the rural area. The identical figures throughout Russia average 63.2, 67.5 and 45.5 per cent respectively.
