OREANDA-NEWS. March 30, 2011. India's New Mangalore Port looks set to close the financial year with a 16% year-on-year rise in LPG imports, a senior port official said Tuesday citing latest year-to-date data. As of Monday, the port has received 1.89 million mt of LPG against 1.63 million mt in fiscal 2009-10, said S Gopalakrishna, traffic manager at the port. India's financial year runs from April to March.

In the first 11 months of the current financial year (April 2010 to February 2011), the port has handled 1.73 million mt of LPG, up 15% from 1.5 million mt in the same period a year earlier. In February, the port received 169,000 mt of LPG, up 20.7% from February 2010 imports.
