OREANDA-NEWS. March 31, 2011. The EU will provide a EUR 1 million financial aid to Moldova for implementing competition and state aid policy.  The money will be allocated under the Twinning project - Support to the Implementation and Enforcement of Competition and State Aid Policy, launched in Moldova on Tuesday. It is planned for 18 months and will be implemented together with the anti-monopoly institutions of the EU member states – Romania, Austria and Latvia.

The National Agency for the Protection of Competition and other public authorities developing a competitive environment in Moldova, as well as judges, business- and civil society representatives will be the project beneficiaries.

The Acting President of Moldova, Parliament Chairman Marian Lupu stressed the importance of promoting a policy, meeting the EU standards in competition and development of the favorable competitive environment in Moldova. The launch of the project is also very important in the light of initiation of the negotiations over establishment of the Free Deepened and Comprehensive Trade Area between Moldova and the EU.
