OREANDA-NEWS. April 05, 2011. Single-use powder enameled steel born by Baosteel passed certification of British Howden Group, the largest global manufacturer of environment-friendly electric equipments. Personnel of Howden came to Baosteel recently, inspected manufacturing process and inquired on issues of commercial supply. The gap-filling products will be widely applied in newly set-up fuel gas desulfuration and denitrification equipments of numerous coal power plants in China, reported the press-centre of Baosteel

Enameled steel reemerges as economy develops. Unlike low-end bathtubs, pans, bowls, enamel becomes increasingly applied in areas of metro train decoration, environment-friendly electric facilities and high-end electric appliances in recent years. Under guiding national energy saving and emission reduction policy, single-use powder enameled steel is ideal to reduce waste disposal as raw material of fuel gas desulfuration and denitrification by domestic coal power plants.

Enameling techniques have undergone fundamental transformation due to new application fields. Former widely used wet enameling, which had long process, high energy consumption and low resource utility rate was annulled by powder enameling in 1980s. Early in 1990s, domestic steel plants of Baosteel, etc. produced enameled steel products through R&D. Due to high requirements for steel plate surface quality, property and corrosion resistance by enameling techniques, present domestic single-use powder enameled steel is all imported from abroad.

To solve the problem, Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. enameled steel manufacture, sales, research team chose Howden Group affiliated Howden Hua Engineering Co., Ltd. in Weihai Shangdong as important partner for upgrade based on experiences formed in earlier years. Through over one year's repeated tests and adjustment, Baosteel new single-use enameled steel passed enameling tests of Howden Hua Corporation at the beginning of this March.
