OREANDA-NEWS. April 5, 2011. Uralkali has received a report from the Galurgia Mining Institute, stating that in the territory of Uralkali subsidiary, Berezniki Mining Construction Office (BShSU) an increase in the speed of soil subsidence has been detected. This information came from the seismic, gas and chemical monitoring, which provides the Company with the ability to monitor unusual soil movements, detect risks and take the appropriate action. Based on the monitoring of the data the specialists from the Galurgia Institute concluded there was the possibility of soil subsidence, if the subsidence speed continues to increase.

One of the BShSU buildings is located on the territory of potential subsidence. The building is currently out of use as the land around it was considered potentially dangerous some time ago. All the surrounding production and transport equipment stands outside the possible subsidence area and are not considered to be at risk.

Currently, the seismic and gas and chemical monitoring and the ongoing developments are recorded on the video surveillance camera.  Access to the area has been prohibited as a security precaution.

Should soil subsidence happen Uralkali believes it will not have any impact on the production of either Uralkali or business of OJSC RZD and other companies.
