OREANDA-NEWS. April 08, 2011. The Novosibirsk Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service found that “Siberia Airlines (S7)” OJSC violated Part 1 Article 14.31 of the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Violations and imposed an administrative fine around ten million Rubles, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

“Siberia Airlines” OJSC abused its market dominance on the “Novosibirsk – Vladivostok – Novosibirsk” route. The air carrier violated the tariff procedures. Some airfares reached 38,000 Rubles, which is 1.5 times higher than the airfare of other air carriers operating on the same route. The airlines did not provide economic justification of the overrated airfare.

Deputy Head of Novosibirsk OFAS Russia, Alexander Yelchaninov, stated: “The Airlines does not admit committing the violations, and its representatives ostentatiously failed to attend the case hearing. Probably, the Antimonopoly Service is facing lengthy judicial proceedings. The passengers can only trust that the court will take their side rather than support the monopolist”.
