OREANDA-NEWS. April 8, 2011. In response to the earthquake in the coast of Miyagi at 23:32 on April 7th, Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL) informs the current situation as follows.

We expect it would not affect so much the recovery plan on going.
The followings are update of the situation of each factory.

-Tokyo Electron Tohoku Ltd. (Product: Thermal Processing System, Oshu City, Iwate)
Not much damage has been seen to the factory. The factory is closed as water and electricity supply has been suspended, but expected to resume in a couple of day. Operation will be restarted from next week.

-Tokyo Electron Technology Development Institute, Inc. (Product: RLSA Etching System, Sendai City, Miyagi)
There has been no significant damage to the factory. Water, electricity, and gas are running, while waiting industrial water to be recovered. It is expected to resume the operation at beginning of next week.

-Tokyo Electron Miyagi Ltd. (Product: Etching System, Matsushima City, Miyagi)
Minor damage has been reported at the logistic area, however we expect it will be recovered in the short term. Although the plant has been under the recovery work since after the previous earthquake, we expect it will be necessary to take additional 10 days for full recovery due to the earthquake last night. Reoperation will be at early May.

As we have set up the back up production line at Yamanashi Plant, there is no big impact upon our total production plan of etching systems.
