OREANDA-NEWS. April 8, 2011. Recognising the stable and outstanding safety performance, Greentech Foundation has awarded Tata Power with the most admired top honour — ‘Gold’ — for its Trombay Thermal Power Station in the thermal power category at the 10th Annual Greentech Safety Awards 2011.

The award is a significant development for Tata Power as this further reiterates the stringent safety procedures followed by this 55-year-old thermal power generating station in Mumbai. Trombay Thermal Power Station has been generating uninterrupted power for the city of Mumbai and is also recognised as one of the best performing stations in the country. It has many firsts to its credit, including the commissioning of India’s first 150MW and 500MW units in India.

Anil Sardana, managing director, Tata Power, said, “We are glad to receive this prestigious award and it is our endeavour to achieve world-class safety standards at all our locations. This award will further motivate us, in our efforts towards being a world-class safety organisation.”

Tata Power’s Trombay Thermal Power Station has been recognised not only for its outstanding safety practices within the organisation but also for extra steps taken to reach its stakeholders and nearby communities with safety and health awareness campaigns and sessions on a regular basis.
