OREANDA-NEWS. April 18, 2011. The Container Terminal of East Port of Chongqing started operations. Mr. Yan Jun, Vice-president of SIPG, delivered his speech at the opening ceremony of the new joint venture between SIPG, Chongqing Shipping Construction Company and Chongqing East Port Development Company.

The lately completed phase one project involves two 5’000 tons multifunctional berths and a 60-lots Ro/Ro berth. Annual capacity of the terminal is 200’000 to 250’000 TEUs.

The terminal will serve for the logistics between Chongqing and neighboring Provinces of Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan, integrating inland transportation with international logistics chain to boost the domestic and foreign trade of the area. This project marks a critical step made by SIPG to enhance its Yangtze River Strategy.
