OREANDA-NEWS. April 19, 2011. Head of Karelia Andrei Nelidov has held a meeting with Mikhail Bolotin, President and CEO of Corporate Governance Company Concern Tractor Plants Ltd. In our republic this large Russian company owns Onego Tractor Plant. Negotiations were devoted to prospects of its development.

Valentin Luntsevich, Deputy Head of the Republic of Karelia and Minister of Economic Development, other members of the Government and Daniel Demakov, CEO of Onego Tractor Plant, have also taken part in the meeting.

According to representatives of Onego Tractor Plant, 175 people work at the plant today, resettlement to the second production site of the enterprise is completed, its development goes on. In 2010 it had been produced 59 units of equipment. This year the plant is expected to produce 130 tractors, and capacities allow to achieve the parameter of 300 machines a year.

The prime product of the plant today are logging machines of Onezhets 300 series intended for traditional tree-length method of logging. Although demand for such method among lumberers grows less, carrier vehicle of this machine remains in great demanded. Onezhets 300 may carry fire-fighting equipment, drilling machine or bush-cutting units. Power engineering specialists, foresters, firemen and representatives of other branches are ready to purchase Petrozavodsk tractors especially with automatic shift gear as forest transport machine.

Besides, the plant in Petrozavodsk performes semi knocked down assemblage of modern harvesters, made at a Danish enterprise which is also a part of Corporate Governance Company Concern Tractor Plants Ltd. Perspective engineering development of a machine to harvest timber according to Canadian technology that differs from the tree-length method and from the sortment technology used in Russia is conducted.

At the meeting Andrei Nelidov and Mikhail Bolotin discussed ways of further development of the second production site of Onego Tractor Plant. Besides production of logging equipment, there is an opportunity to establish an enterprise to repair railway cars. After assessment of this issue in conference with the Ministry of Economic Development of the republic, plans of expansion of Onego Tractor Plant may become a subject for the agreement between the Government of Karelia and Concern Tractor Plants Ltd.
