OREANDA-NEWS. April 20, 2011. The Ministry of Culture & Tourism of Azerbaijan intends to develop navigation system GoMap by supplementing it with new modules.

Sinam’s business development director Islam Akhmedov says that in the prospect within the project they plan to provide for owners of mobile devices that support GPS system to connect to tourism navigation system GoMap and complement GPS system with trackings to reflect the information on the whereabouts of a tourist.

“GPS trackings are particularly actual in tourist complexes like Shahdagh, where lovers of active rest can go skiing, for definition of whereabouts of tourists,” Akhmedov emphasized.

Sinam president Elchin Aliyev says that in the future the system will be integrated with Facebook and a wide range of additional functions.

GoMap project was realized by the Ministry of Culture & Tourism together with Sinam. The system includes data on tourist areas, monuments and other landmarks of the country, as well as more than 650,000 addresses. In the future the system will also be integrated with the national satellite in Azerbaijan.
