OREANDA-NEWS. April 20, 2011. Power Machines has successfully tested a prototype of the 885 MW К-800-130/3000 steam turbine designed for Beloyarskaya NPP power unit No. 4, which is currently under construction.

Beloyarskaya NPP power unit No. 4 with a fast neutron reactor is an innovative project for Russia’s nuclear industry. Power unit No. 3, with a BN-600 reactor plant, which is presently in operation at Beloyarskaya NPP, has served as a prototype for the new facility and is the world’s largest fast neutron reactor power unit capable of electric energy production and nuclear-fuel breeding.

The contract to supply a set of basic equipment for the turbine hall at Beloyarskaya NPP’s 800 MW unit, which is currently under construction, was signed by Power Machines and ZIOMAR Engineering Company, OJSC in 2007. Under this contract, Power Machines makes provision for the production and delivery of  an 885 MW steam turbine and auxiliary equipment, as well as an 890 MW turbine generator. Power Machines is also responsible for the supervised installation and start-up management.

At the moment, three Power Machines turbines with the capacity of 210 MW each are used within power unit No. 3 of Beloyarskaya NPP. Power unit No. 4 will have a higher-capacity turbine combined with a new hydrogen-free turbine generator featuring enhanced performance and thermal efficiency as well as significantly improved reliability.

The new turbine generator produced by Power Machines for Beloyarskaya NPP unit No. 4 was passed to the customer in December 2010.
