OREANDA-NEWS. April 22, 2011. On April 21, 2011, Kommersant Daily newspaper published an article "Transaero wants to fly over Aeroflot". The article states that in March 2011 Transaero Airlines has requested the Russian Government to consider selling Orenburg Airlines to Transaero.

This information is completely incorrect.

Transaero Airlines General Director Olga Pleshakova says Transaero has never considered acquisition of Orenburg Airlines.  Therefore, there have been no requests from Transaero’s General Director to Russian Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Transport.

"Transaero Airlines has never considered Orenburg Airlines as its competitor due to completely different business models.  Transaero is the largest Russian carrier performing long-haul flights on wide-bodied aircraft", - stressed Olga Pleshakova.

According to Olga Pleshakova, the attempt to boost the asset value of another carrier using the title of Transaero is unacceptable.

Olga Pleshakova points out that Transaero Airlines is considering the idea of participating in other carriers' equity but in this question the Transaero's field of interest lies outside Russia. The fact that journalists have published the material without getting the promised answer from Transaero leaves perplexed.

Transaero Airlines demands Kommersant Daily newspaper to publish a retraction of the information that does not correspond to reality.
